We have made it to Africa! A week has passed since we’ve gotten here and it has so far been quite the blessed trip. We have gotten to start our ministry for a couple days and we’re doing kids ministry! We have been working at a daycare with the kids and the workers at the daycare. There is a Shepard that oversees the operations for the day (and speaks Siswati and English) and then there are usually four cooks as well. I have gotten a chance to play soccer, sing songs, tell Bible stories, read books, and hold lots of kids so far. I have also gotten a chance to speak with the cooks and Shepard a lot. We have shared testimonies and talked about prayer and other Bible stories. We have shared laughs and jokes as well. Taylor and I got to speak with them for a long time and pray for them. Another day I got to hold a baby in my lap while there were kids writing letters in English around me. I held the napping baby and read letters to make sure the English made sense and helped the kids with their spelling and grammar. We also got a chance to walk around the town we live in, Manzini, and go to the grocery store. We cook for ourselves, and we have three head chefs that cook each meal with some others helping. Our head chefs are Jaya, Emily, and myself. We have been cooking up a storm for everyone making breakfast and dinner. The cooks at the daycare said to Taylor and I that they know God loves them because of groups like us that come to visit them. They love the ministry and love that we come play with the kids. Stay tuned for the future.
This sounds amazing. I am so proud you you and the work you are doing. I can’t wait to hear more!
Ecclesiastes 12:23
Love & hugs from the N40.
I can’t stop looking at these images and thinking about what you must be taking in. You’re using skills you didn’t realize you had and also stretching to incorporate new ones. Seeing things most people back here never see. Feeling God’s presence in such an organic way. Love you
What an interesting and fantastic first week. Loved the photos, as usual.
You part of the cook crew, how cool is that!! What type of things do you make?
will be looking forward to the next installment
So far we have made a row ration of eggs, chicken sausage, French toast, and yogurt parfaits for breakfast. We have a rotation of chicken and rice, spaghetti and meatballs, hamburgers, and stir fry for dinner.
P.S. to my previous post. What is the time difference over there? For example, if it’s 12:00 noon on Monday, what time would it be there? Are you ahead of us, or behind us?
Also Happy Valentines Day on the 14th. You have a lot of people here sending you love.
Aunt Carole
I am seven hours ahead of Eastern time. When it is 7am there on Eastern time, it is 2pm here in Eswatini!
So neat to see you enjoying all the kids while you plant the seeds of God’s love to them! Children’s ministry is dear to my heart and I believe that if we can help those little ones to know God and surrender themselves to him that we all can have such a blessed existence together. So proud of all you are doing!
Grant, just now catching up on all your blogs! Thanks for allowing us to share in your ministry by reading about the things you are doing, the people you are meeting and how it’s impacting you and those you are encountering. The pics are wonderful! Know that you are in our prayers each day.
